Graded-card protectors: six formats, one that suits you.
“Slab protector” is an umbrella term. It can describe a flexible sleeve, perimeter bumper, rigid guard, magnetic display enclosure, framed display or rigid protector format. Start with the physical format, not the category label, and the shortlist collapses fast.
The Tank is CardSurvive's rigid-acrylic graded-card protector family, with current listings for PSA, Beckett, TAG and CGC collectors. Choose the grading company shown on your slab and check out securely.

The short answer
Pick the format first. The product almost picks itself after that.
The six formats below are different objects, not different grades of the same object. Once you know whether you want a flexible wrap, a partial guard, a framed wall piece or a rigid enclosure the whole holder sits inside, the shortlist is usually one or two products long.
- Bulk storage and posting
- A soft slab sleeve is a film wrap rather than an enclosure, so slabs keep stacking much as they do bare.
- Slabs on open display
- A rigid acrylic protector encloses the complete graded holder in clear acrylic and stands up on a shelf.
- One card on the wall
- An aluminium and glass or acrylic frame is a different object again: a wall fixture rather than a slab accessory.
Two questions, one listing
Not sure which listing is yours? Answer two questions.
Start with the company printed on your slab label. The finder asks about your holder next, then takes you to the listing for it.
Open the slab fit finderWant each grading company's own published case size before you choose? Compare PSA, CGC, TAG and Beckett slab dimensions, cited to each company's own site.
CardSurvive builds one of those six formats: the rigid acrylic protector. Already know your grading company? Go straight to the listing that matches your label.
The listings in that format are the PSA slab protector, the BGS / Beckett slab protector and the TAG & CGC slab protector.
Choose by construction
The same category name can hide very different physical formats.
This table describes how each format is built and what to confirm on the exact product in front of you. It deliberately makes no performance comparison between formats: nobody should ask you to take that on trust, including us.
| Product category | Construction | Check before choosing | Category boundary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Soft slab sleeve | Flexible film or bag around a grading slab. | Exact fit, opening or closure, material and which slab surfaces it covers. | Flexible construction is not a rigid enclosure or an impact-test result. |
| Flexible perimeter bumper | A flexible perimeter accessory, often described as TPU, rubber or silicone. | Actual material, front and rear coverage, and supported slab version. | The word bumper does not establish impact performance or compatibility. |
| Rigid acrylic-backed or open-front guard | A rigid backing or edge-guard format that may leave part of the slab unobstructed. | Front, rear and edge coverage on the exact product. | Acrylic construction alone does not establish full enclosure. |
| Magnetic acrylic display enclosure | Rigid acrylic panels or an enclosure joined with a magnetic closure. | Depth, coverage, mass and supported slab thickness. | Magnetic describes the closure, not a protection rating. |
| Aluminium and glass or acrylic frame | A metal frame paired with glass or acrylic panels. | Panel material, coverage, dimensions, weight, closure and exact slab compatibility. | Its materials and construction make it a separate display format. |
| Rigid acrylic protectorThe Tank is here | A rigid protector format built around a grading slab. | Coverage, closure, weight and the grading-company option you need. | Compare the individual product details and intended holder style before choosing. |

Selection guide
Five questions that settle it before price does.
Answer these in order and you will normally be comparing two products in the same format, rather than six products that are not really alternatives to each other.
- What is actually covered?Perimeter only, front only, rear only, or a structure that encloses the whole graded holder.
- How does it open and close?A sleeve opening, a magnetic join, frame fixings and a rigid protector's closure all behave differently when you are handling a slab.
- Which grading company is on your label?Slab holders differ between companies, so buy the listing named for the company printed on yours.
- Where will it live?Shelf depth, cabinet height and stacking all change which format suits you before price does.
- What happens after checkout?Delivered cost, the returns policy, your Australian Consumer Law rights and whether a person answers your fit question.

Clear answers without category shortcuts.
Straight answers to the questions that decide the format, including the ones where the honest answer is “that word tells you nothing”.
Is every slab protector the same?
No. The term can describe flexible sleeves, perimeter bumpers, rigid guards, magnetic enclosures, frames and rigid protector formats. Decide which physical format you want first; that removes most of the shortlist in one step.
Why would I choose a rigid acrylic protector?
Because you want the complete graded holder to sit inside a rigid clear protector that stands up on a shelf, rather than under a flexible wrap or behind a partially open guard. That is a format preference, and it is the format The Tank is built in.
Does magnetic closure mean more protection?
No. Magnetic describes a closure mechanism. It does not establish depth, fit, impact performance or a protection level.
Is every acrylic case the same?
No. That ambiguous label can describe backed guards, joined-panel display enclosures or larger rigid formats. Check construction, coverage, dimensions and closure.
